Tom Hitchcock obituary

Thomas Hitchcock, 62, of Cheyenne died June 16.  He was born Aug. 3, 1953, in Grand Rapids, Minn.

He moved to Lander in 1961 while in the third grade. He graduated from Lander High School in 1971 and the University of Wyoming in 1975.  Tom began teaching and completed his master’s degree in 1980.  He married Shirley Klingler on June 12, 1982.

Tom was a guidance counselor at Johnson Junior High and Central High School for 27 years. He enjoyed traveling and singing in the church choir and other local choirs.

He is survived by his siblings, Jeff (Vicki) Hitchcock and Peggy (Alan) Shaffer; mother-in-law, Grace Klingler; four nieces; and one nephew.  Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; and parents, Frank and Jean Hitchcock.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on June 22, 2016, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Rick Veit officiating. Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Davis Hospice Center, 6000 Sycamore Road, Cheyenne, WY 82009.
